ABSTRACT: 

We study  the phenomenon of transition to chaos in quasiperiodically
forced dissipative dynamical systems. In particular,  
we study the so called fractalization route, 
in which a smooth torus seems to fractalize.
This has been suggested by several authors as a scenario
of formation of strange nonchaotic attractors. 
We provide numerical evidence, supported in rigorous results, 
that some of these attractors are really nonstrange. 
The tests have been done in several models that have appeared in the 
literature.
